I cant believe I've been back in Yorkshire for 6 months and now its just 10 days before we head back to France. What is brilliant about this next 6 months is that I dont have to come back to the UK for 4 monthly check ups at the hospital anymore. ....its only every 6 months now. That feels like freedom ! I read this wonderful post when you shared it on Facebook - as always, so well written, so informative and full of your pleasure and involvement in life and history. I wanted to comment but as I was on my phone and it has an annoying habit of duplicating comments on blogs, I thought I'd wait til one of the offspring happened to raise themselves from the PC and give me a chance to comment properly. I think I must have waited well over a week! I am still following everything you write and share. And be assured that we are all settled back into the usual chaotic routine and apart from the anxiety of not knowing of whether Mateo can get enough points to enter University this year - but if he doesn't, he will do for next year - we're all rather well just now!
Can't wait to give you that hug in the autumn. Logic says this is some distance in the future but experience tells me that it will happen much sooner than I expect!! Here's to a wonderful summer both in France, Spain and the UK.
AxxxArtyZenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12628693178003940118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-926851391080970240.post-80645465973138048262016-04-29T13:59:39.917+01:002016-04-29T13:59:39.917+01:00No...depressing stuff isnt it...nothing changes. As for the Skibbereen Eagle.....It closed down in 1929...replaced locally by the Southern Star, which took a much more nationalist view of the world than the Eagle, which despite its fame for keeping its eye on things, was seen as supporting British imperialism, pro unionism and the Protestant landowners.
I have come across a couple of references to an on line version of the Eagle.....but have not tracked it down. HB and I also have ancestors who fled the famine and how interesting to go to this place and see the reminders. The scenery is lovely indeed, and I hope we get to follow your tracks in September. And I hope you are doing well, you certainly are looking good :) xxPatriciahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11685403215601517267noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-926851391080970240.post-7426876843275856102016-04-26T17:00:26.125+01:002016-04-26T17:00:26.125+01:00The tragedy of Ireland has left it's mark thro...The tragedy of Ireland has left it's mark through the years and migrations. You post has made me consider the plight of those poor people trying to make a better life for themselves who are given nowhere to go, but who still dream of safe passage somehow to a better life. I have only been to Ireland once and it was a wonderful and memorable visit. I've often wished for a return trip as it seems to be a place of never-ending discovery. Enjoyed your pictures and post very much, Janice! The Broadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04976467218216864644noreply@blogger.com
