I could only find one defaced poster in Caunes, but the results from the first round suggest that Sarkozy is not as popular here as Hollande.
Voici le résultat du vote Caunois, comme pour
pratiquement dans tout l' hexagone le FN augmente son potentiel, l' abstention
est aussi très sensible.
Inscrits : 1165
Abstentions : 184 Votants : 981 Nuls : 21 Exprimés : 960
Joly : 28
Le pen : 197
Sarkozy : 185
Mélenchon : 125
Pautou : 12
Arthaud : 4
Cheminade : 2
Bayrou : 60
Dupont Aignan : 19
Hollande: 328
So, if the right goes for Sarkozy, and the left for Hollande.....Hollande should win, but I don't suppose its as straightforward as that. Who knows what Le pen's supporters will do.... she was talking about voting "blanc" in a speech the other day, at first I thought she meant "white"....but then realised she meant "blank".
It looks like the pendulum may be about to swing the other way, as it's doing in our local elections here in the UK, Janice.
ReplyDeleteHello Perpetua, yes, it seems its time to change round again. I'm in England for a few days for my daughter's 21st birthday, so I did get to vote yesterday.I was a little surprised to hear a radio announcement of a Bradford result today, as victory for the " Respect George Galloway Party" !
DeleteAnd so we go on - left, right, left, right. Frustrating to say the least! Axx
ReplyDeleteHi Annie, I do love the posters though....and I am wondering which 197 of my neighbours voted for le pen. Jx
DeleteLeft to right ....I think they are all the same. They blah, blah, blah to get a vote. Then when they are in it's a different blah, blah, blah. It gets so annoying......once I couldn't decide on who to vote so ....yes....one time I voted for one because he was handsome. Sounds silly but I did. Happy Birthday to your daughter. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Erica ( Irene)....its silly really, I'm going to have a meal with her the night before her birthday, then breakfast on her birthday...then I go back to France and she will join me 4 days later for a proper celebration....but it only seemed right to be in the same country as her, for at least a few hours , on the actual day ! J.
DeleteHello Janice:
ReplyDeleteThe French Presidential election is certainly being hailed as one of the most exciting in recent years. It will be most interesting to see what happens, and in particular where those who voted for Le pen will now place their cross.
This is the first Fr. election I have followed with anything more than passing interest....and I have found it quite fascinating...it is helping my French, and maybe next time, I really will have more idea about what is going on. J.
DeleteIt doesn't strike me so much as right and left as 'failed experiment' - Sarkozy trying to shake things up and being thwarted by his own party and 'as you were' - Hollande the traditional politian.
ReplyDeleteDepressing prospect either way.You can't trust Sarkozy with money and you can't trust Hollande with morals.
There's a big FN vote in the area in which I last lived and I don't see it going to Hollande, but friends reckon that despite what Marine says the floating FN voter - the protest vote - will probably go to Sarkozy.
A victory for Sarkozy seems doubtful, but there's a horrible air of Kinnock about the Hollande campaign...from the dubious party in Paris to the 'Moi President' stuff in the televised debate.
I know what you mean about the Kinnock feeling....not long to wait now though. J
DeleteWe have just found our local results on the internet, and it is all change with us. Tories have gone from first to third with Labour in power. Elections these days really do seem to be about people power.
ReplyDeleteHello Rosemary, the local UK elections have certainly shown that sort of swing...similar picture to you, in our bit of Yorkshire...now, just a bit longer to wait to find out what happens in France. J.
