Sleeping Iguanas

The grandsons were pretending to run a café for us this evening, they kept coming back to us for more orders. They apparently served chocolate wine and sleeping iguanas, which we discovered were pina coladas.

What can I get you sir ?

and here is your sleeping iguana madam........

  2. Lovely! I'll never have a pina colada again, much prefer a sleeping iguana - so cute. As for chocolate wine - what a brilliant idea - hang on to that one, get it patented!! Axxx

    1. Annie...its hard work ! but they continue to be adorable. I'm concentrating on teaching 10 week old Izzie the words to a French folk song I learned 40 odd years ago, about children on the moon. So far, she just grins at me, do you think I'm expecting too much from her ?

  3. It is priceless what children come out with. I used to make little notes of the things they said in a notebook so that I would not forget.

    1. Yes Rosemary, thinking about my purpose in blogging, following your post yesterday, I have decided that some of the things I want preserved can be done so through these ponderings....and sleeping iguanas falls into the need to be preserved category.

  5. We have 4 of the g'girls here tonight, Janice....they have made up a dance in the pool, made up a play, etc. Such creative minds...I'm so impressed/awed...and glad that I don't have to raise them! Grandparenthood...the best stage of life: they come; they go; and we don't have to pay for college!!!

    1. You are our models for grandparenthood....I tried explaining ice cream for breakfast to Jodie....she was sceptical to say the least. Jess of course remembers Arizona ice cream and banana bread as her favourite breakfast....dairy, fruit, what else could a girl need ! J.

  8. Sleeping iguanas is going into use here...that's priceless.

I hope one day they get the chance to see real sleeping iguanas...and to see them perched on the branch of a tree spreading their 'sails' to warm themselves up to start the day.

There is one that comes regularly to a tree nearby...infuriatingly just out of focus for a good photograph....and I always feel privileged to see him.

    1. Well, I look forward to the photo if you ever manage it, our little boys would love it. They are completely fascinated by lizards at the moment, so you can imagine what they'd do if they saw a sleeping iguana. J

  9. Janice, that is SO sweet! I shall never look at a pina colada in the same way again. :-) As for chocolate wine, I love both but had never thought of combining them. :-) About tho have a grandson invasion here, so sympathise with the lack of time for thought and posting.

  10. Good luck with the coming invasion Perpetua. I have spent ages preparing for ours to arrive....and am amazed at the havoc that has been caused in such a short space of time. However, they are having a great time, helped by the stunningly gorgeous weather. Fly has sent me iguana pics, the boys love them. J
