Smiling reflections

Today, on yet another canal walk ( from Hebden Bridge to Todmorden and back) a man called over to me from the opposite bank and said
" You look happy".
It was the understatement of the year. I had a grin fixed from ear to ear, as I walked along the tow path of the Rochdale canal.

Natural beauty, and man made amusements had me smiling out loud.

  2. Gorgeous, Janice! All the photos are great, but I especially love the face in the tree stump, the duck under the bridge and the drake taking off. :-) Well done.

  3. Thanks Perpetua. The tree stump face is wonderful isn't it. I also like the Yorkshire tea sitting on the shelf seen through the canal boat window. J.

  4. I'm smiling aloud as well just looking at these pictures, Janice. Each one has a pleasant story to tell, it seems. The old man in the tree could tell some amusing stories I imagine. The duck under the bridge is probably my favorite. It is as if he has the key to the secret of contentment.

One on our local chain grocers now carries Yorkshire tea. As soon as I make a dent in the large stash of teas I have I plan to buy a box.

  5. Thanks Penny, dont expect wonders from Yorkshire tea, its just very straight forward honest, no nonsense black tea...as you would expect with such branding. However, of course if the milk is exactly right, the water boiling, the pot warmed.....its pretty good !

  12. Gorgeous photo's.....you really are a good photographer. I felt like I was there.
I have to tell you the first photo of those Canada Geese are getting to be a problem here in my city. Sometimes they actually stop traffic crossing the road. The few pairs of them pass and then one always stops and just stands there thinking.....meanwhile holding up rush-hour traffic. My daughter's university is in a wood like area in the city and they have hundreds of them there....I've actually seen them chase a student or two..... my daughter is petrified when she sees them.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos.

    1. I know what you mean about the Canada geese. When I lived in Wisconsin,25 plus years ago, I was thrilled to see them,as they stopped on a nearby marsh on their winter's migration. At the time they were completely new to me. Now they seem to be everywhere, here in Yorkshire, and all year round. I have seen them get abit "stroppy" on the canal banks, and am always just a little wary. J.
