I am having a hysterechtomy next Tuesday.... there is no evidence that the cancer has spread, but as it is an unusual strain I will very likely be having chemotherapy afterwards. The op will be in Leeds, but follow up treatment will be in Halifax...the hospital I love, where I worked for 3 years ( on the gynaey ward ! ).
Thankyou again for all the support..... I'll be back blogging again as soon as I can.
Janice x
Looking forward to recuperating in France......roll on the warm weather next spring. |
Thumbs up!
ReplyDeleteAnd how helpful that the follow up will be at your 'own' hospital.
Will be thinking of you and your family.
Thanks Fly... I hope you know how much I appreciate your kind thoughts. J.
DeleteI thought this would be the first step Jane, so I will be thinking of you next Tuesday. And great that the follow-up will be in Halifax. Here's hoping that all goes well and that you will soon be on the road to recovery. Lots of love as always xxxx
ReplyDeleteThanks Ayak. I feel very positive now, and am glad to know what is happening. J.
DeleteSo glad you now know what will be happening, Janice and that there's no sign of spread. Follow-up at your own hospital is great news.
ReplyDeleteYou and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Pxx
Thanks so much Perpetua. It has not been an easy few weeks, but now I know I can deal with whatever happens next. J.
DeleteHello Janice:
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time and trouble to give an update. It is good that things are moving speedily.
Follow up treatment in the hospital you are familiar with will be reassuring. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Thanks so much for your kind thoughts and messages. It means a lot. J.
DeleteDear Janice - so pleased to learn that the cancer has not spread. You will be in my thoughts especially next Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteI am sure you must still have friends and colleagues in the Halifax hospital which is a reassuring comfort for you.
Take care♥
Thanks Rosemary. It is reassuring to know that after the op, it will feel so familar for follow up treatment, and I can always pop up to " my ward" to see old friends. Thanks so much for your kindness over the last couple of weeks. J.
DeleteThanks for letting us know - will be thinking of you on Tuesday. Better out than in!
ReplyDeleteYou said it..... believing it can be "taken away" is very powerful ! Thanks for your positive and supportive messages BtoB. J.
DeleteMy thoughts and prayers remain with you, Janice. It was good of you to let us all know that the cancer has not spread and what you line of treatment will be.
ReplyDeleteYour thoughts and prayers are so appreciated... thankyou Penny. J.
DeleteHi Janice,
ReplyDeleteThe first step on your road to recovery! I'll be thinking about you and your family on Tuesday. It must be a relief to know that the cancer hasn't spread.
What a great environment in which to recuperate.
Take care
Gaynor x
Thanks Gaynor, yes, once I heard that it was operable, I was able to start to look forward again. I cant wait to get back to France. Thanks for your lovely supportive messages. J.
DeleteJanice...thank you for letting us know, you will be in my thoughts and prayers on Tuesday. Glad to hear that it hasn't spread, I actually had the same operation and procedures...it's not so bad and now you can be pampered when you get home even more.. It's also nice to know that you are familiar and like the hospital and are in good hands.
ReplyDeleteTake care.... (((BIG HUGS)))
Thanks so much. I am feeling very positive, and have been helped so much by the wonderful support from blogging friends. J.
DeleteI was thinking of you yesterday, as you'd said that was when you'd get the results. It's very encouraging that it has been detected early enough not to have spread. I'm glad you've got a plan -- it really helps. And not too long to wait for surgery.
ReplyDeleteTake it easy once the op is over ... you'll need lots of pampering!
Thanks Veronica. I certainly intend to make the most of any pampering thats on offer.... and Mark is brilliant at such things. J.
DeleteYour upbeat mood is palpable, Janice! It really has been a gruelling few weeks, I know. I will be thinking of you, of course, on Tuesday, though you have not been far from my thoughts at anytime recently and there you will stay until we see you back by the pool - or Barcelona - whichever comes first!! Much love, Axxx
ReplyDeleteThanks Annie, the last few weeks have been gruelling, but now things feel quite straightforward..... I just need to get on with it. I hope not to be away from my keyboard for too long, and think of all the great posts I'll have to read after 3 or 4 days away from the computer....have just realised I'll miss the US election too. Oh well...there'll be another one along in 4 years. Lots of love. J xxx
DeleteI'm so glad that positive things are happening - waiting is so unbearable. We are all thinking of you, Janice!
ReplyDeleteNilly xxx
Thanks Nilly, just a couple more days until my surgery, so not much longer to wait. Thanks for your kind thoughts and words. Jx
Deleteje vous envoie beaucoup de prières . Tout ira bien
ReplyDeleteAnnie v.
Merci beaucoup, mois aussi, je pense que tout ira bien.

I just wanted you to know that I will be thinking of you tomorrow, Janice, and through your recovery from the hysterectomy. I had one about 18 years ago, for different reasons than you, but still understand the recovery process. It gets better each day, my dear. My thoughts are with you.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Penny... I'm amazed how post operative treatment has changed in the 3 years since I worked on a gynaey ward.... I guess 18 years ago it would have been very different indeed. It is 4 days since my surgery...which was successful, and I am home, and really, quite mobile. Mark is being wonderful. I feel very pampered. Thankyou for your thoughtfulness and kindness in recent days. It has meant a great deal to me. J.
DeleteAdding my good wishes again, Janice. Like Penny I too had a hysterectomy over 20 years ago for a different reason and can remember the need to be kind to myself, take things gently at first and let the healing happen. You have a lot of well-wishers out here, you know. Pxxx
ReplyDeleteHello Perpetua, it feels excellent to be home after only 3 days. I'm doing well I think, and as I'm technically cancer free, it feels pretty good compared to this time last week. It has been amazing to receive the good wishes of so many people, friends from the virtual world have become so important. Who would think that would happen just by posting a few words about everyday life. Thanks for all your kindness, and I'm itching to have a look at what you've been up to in the far north. J
DeleteOh wow, home already, Janice! That's great - at last you can get a proper night's sleep. Lovely to see you back in the virtual world. :-)
DeleteThinking of you today! I hope it goes well -- you'll feel rough, but take it easy and things will get better!
ReplyDeleteThanks Veronica, all went well, the surgery was successful and my recovery has been good... so now its the long haul to heal, and follow up chemotherapy. I have felt rough, but it is getting better each day, and it is only 4 days since surgery, so I shouldn't be too worried about feeling tired and sore.
DeleteThanks for your messages.... much appreciated. J
Fantastic to be home after only three days! I'm glad it went so well. And although there's still treatment to come, it does feel good knowing that they've removed the tumour.
DeleteJanice......Thinking of you today. Hope all goes well, and you are over the worse. It will only get better. (((HUGS))) I know how you feel I went through he exact same thing.
ReplyDeleteTake care...XX
Thankyou so much. I am home, and feeling much better already. I will have follow up chemo soon, but knowing that the surgery was successful is a great help. I'm now looking forward to catching up on all the blogs I have missed. J
DeleteThinking of you today.
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself and let others take care of you.
I'm home, and doing well... I'm particularly good at letting others pamper me. Thanks for your many messages of support, they have really meant a great deal to me... hope you and Mr Fly are doing well. J.
DeleteI've been thinking of you all day. all my love
ReplyDeleteJudith
Thanks Judith..... people have been so lovely, I feel completely surrounded by kindness and support.... I'm home now, tired and sore, but otherwise doing well. Follow up chemo is the next battle..... bring it on ! J.
DeleteHope you're well enough soon to read all these lovely messages. We're thinking of you. Axxx
ReplyDeleteReading these comments has been incredible.... I feel I need a secretary at the moment, blogging, emails, face book..... phone calls, and now I'm home.... visitors with pans of soup, cakes and quiches ! I am amazed to be home so soon, and feel very positive about the eventual outcome. So.... looking forward to Barcelona in the spring, whether I'm recognisable in my wig or not ! love Janice xxx
DeleteJust caught up on your blog and shocked to read your news. I hope the op went very smoothly with a good outcome and you are in good spirits, being suitably pampered. Wishing you all the best..... Jill
ReplyDeleteThanks Jill, I'm doing ok...out of hospital after successful surgery, facing follow up chemo, but feeling very positive...and yes, I am being delightfully pampered. J.
DeleteJanice....I'm so overly happy that you are home and your surgery went well....GET WELL SOON!!!! and glad you are in good spirits with a positive outcome.....Now let the papmpering begin. (((HUGS)))
ReplyDeleteI am wallowing in pampering Erica (Irene). Thankyou for all your good wishes. J.
DeleteHi Janice,
ReplyDeleteA computer malfunction with 'outlook' means that I've lost your email address and it has been removed from your blog.
When you feel up to it, please email me if you still have my email address.
I hope that you are recovering from the op and keeping positive. I have been thinking about you and hope that you will soon be well enough to enjoy some time in Caunes.
Take care
Gaynor xx
Thanks Gaynor. I am sure I have your email somewhere... I will look for it and make contact. Thanks for your good wishes. It looks like it will be May next year before I can get back to Caunes, following the chemo, but I'm already looking forward to it.
DeleteJanice x
Janice, I see from comments above that the surgery went well and that you are home, recovering. So glad to hear that. I've been out-of-town and some technical glitches, now up and running and just wanted you to know you were in my thoughts. Sending thoughts, prayers, and blog hugs your way. Penny
ReplyDeleteThanks Penny, unfortunately a glitch here has meant being back in hospital for nearly a week, so a few steps forward, and a few back I'm afraid. I am home again now, not feeling as good as I hoped to by now. I'm just dipping into blogs again, not very methodically..... hope to catch up soon.

Sorry to hear you had to go back into the hospital, Janice. Besides the worry, your body needs to heal. I remember feeling better, then trying to do some Christmas shopping after a few weeks - totally "hitting the wall" and needing several days to recoup. All that, without the prospect of treatment to follow. Take it slow, dear one.We are all here when you are feeling better.
Delete(After my hysterectomy, I had a rough time concentrating. Magazines, coffee table type books became my best friends for a spell. )
Just checking back in to see how you're doing. Sorry to hear you had a setback, hope you get your strength back soon. Wishing you all the best as you go into the next stage of treatment,
ReplyDeleteJill
I am so sorry you had to return to hospital for a while and am glad you are home again...however good the care home feels best.
